The eighth edition of Rome Art Week kicks off, in which Antonio Cersosimo participates with his solo exhibition #AmoRomA, hosted by Desío Charming Hotels inside the Antico Albergo del Sole Al Pantheon in Piazza della Rotonda, 63.

EXHIBITION
Antonio Cersosimo
is back in a solo exhibition in homage to Rome, with the most significant works of his production dedicated to sentiment, falling in love and passion. Hence the palindrome #AmoRomA, from the ‘Amor‘ of classical culture, which manifests a richness and variety of senses and runs through all Italian art, poetry and prose over the centuries.

LOCATION
Antico Albergo del Sole al Pantheon Hotel, is the ideal place for those who love the art of the past but also look with interest to the future and to contemporary trends. Identified as one of the oldest hotels in Italy, it is the first Roman hotel: its origins date back to 1467, when it was installed in the unparalleled Pantheon square, at that time home of the famous city market, and since then it was preferred by important historical people such as Ludovico Ariosto, Cagliostro and Mascagni.

EXHIBITED ARTWORKS

AMPLESSO
A moment of passionate intimacy that twists the souls of the two lovers, mingled in an entanglement of physical pleasure, manifesting a bond of deep understanding that leaves no room for thought or rationality.

The work was exhibited at Nina Torres Fine Arts in Miami in 2014.

Technique: 18/12 Stainless Steel
Measurements: 137×67.5 cm
Year: 2014

FEDELTÀ
A covenant for life in which a mutual promise of love is constantly kept. The work represents an unbreakable and enduring bond, an oath of eternal love. Loyalty and mutual trust, allowing one to follow without ever leading.

The work was exhibited at Nina Torres Fine Arts in Miami in 2014.

Technique: 18/12 Stainless Steel
Measurements: 150×41.5 cm
Year: 2014

LEZIONI DI VITA
A Gesture, the sharing of experiences, that a parent gives to own childs, as an indissoluble inheritance, one that scars the soul and marks it forever. The work, linked by a parallelism with Generations (another work of the artist and logo of the conference of the Theological Faculty of Northern Italy), is meant to be a guideline that unites culture, commitment, wisdom and love that will be left to the new “Generations,” who will have to be able to grasp the most intrinsic aspects of its essence.

The work was exhibited at Nina Torres Fine Arts in Miami in 2014.

Technique: Technique: 18/12 Stainless Steel
Measurements: 150x32x2 cm
Year: 2013

CONVIVIO
Living relationships: this is the meaning of the work that unites two antithetical themes such as fleeting love and eternal love. The lines match and unite the three figures expressing, despite everything, aggregation.
Here lives a natural contrast between a faithful and committed bond and a forbidden and unfettered one, sometimes resulting in regrets of lost opportunities, and others in confirmations of eternal loves.
The artwork was exhibited at Nina Torres Fine Arts in Miami in 2014.

Technique: 18/12 Stainless Steel
Measurements: 150x48x2 cm
Year: 2013

EDERA
A bond with strong roots, Edera represents for Cersosimo the ability and strength with which love makes a pair of lovers resilient. While simply touching each other, they are able to adapt and vigorously face the difficulties and obstacles of Life.

This artwork was exhibited in the Santa Severina Castle Museum.

Technique: 18/12 stainless steel with a Black Belgium marble base
Measurements: 50x16x12 cm
Year: 2021

NODO
The intricate knot of woven life, weavings of destiny, enduring bonds, through which life finds its course.
The knot of time, between past and future, interweave in the present, without pause, profound reflections.
In the knot of being, the mind reflects, of the deep and subtle mystery of existence. The knot is a symbol of a perfect enigma, that urges us to explore, to seek, to discover.
In the interconnections of thought and art, in every knot we tie, in every step on the path, there’s an opportunity for learning, for growth, for a part.

Technique: 18/12 stainless steel with a stone base
Measurements: 30x16x13 cm
Year: 2023

EQUILIBRI
Inherent need for sensitive people to establish connections with which to support each other. Connections with others and a sense of belonging.
A gesture of sincere love, representing a trust in the other.

The subtle figures, however, draw attention to the fragility of such a balance, which does not allow one to surrender exclusively to the other without carrying a balance with oneself, for it only takes nothing to break it. The Olive Tree is the material that for the artist best expresses the ephemeral balance of human relationships.

The Work boasts a series of exhibitions that have seen it travel through much of Europe until arriving here in Rome, passing through a 13-year solo show a few steps from Milan Cathedral.

Technique: Olive tree with onyx base
Measurements: 84x13x16 cm
Year: 1998

L’ABBRACCIO
An extreme gesture of holding, encircling and pleading, driven by the fear of detachment and losing one’s other half. The work depicts transparent bodies in an almost pleading bond, embodying a morbid thought and not necessarily a physical, concrete gesture.
One restrains by touching, almost without being aware of it.

The one who embraces offers an almost possessive love, while the one who receives it seems at times indifferent, not even deigning the other a glance. This shows that in life it is sometimes necessary to teach how to love, without surrendering, with an embrace that gently draws one in.

The artwork was exhibited at Art Innsbruck 2004 and Europ’Art Genève 2004.
Technique: Mahogany Wood
Measurements: 88x36x5 cm
Year: 2003

COMPLICITÀ
Special union, two entwined bodies nurturing their spirit with virtues such as loyalty, sincerity and intimacy; the essence of deep understanding, constant understanding and support of each other beyond appearances, if only with a glance, a caress or a gesture.

The artwork belongs to the artist’s private collection.

Technique: Oak Wood
Size: 142x38x4 cm
Year: 2006

L’ATTESA
Endless hope, in which time seems to stand still, leaving room for thoughts, fears, moods and states of mind. The work groups the set of emotions and feelings that take possession of the souls, holding them in its grasp. The figures are united and look at each other, closing in reserve and in a prayer that the Waiting will not be in vain.
The sculpture is completed, for the artist, with a happy perfection that rises to the good epilogue.
The artwork was exhibited at Nina Torres Fine Arts in Miami in 2014.

Technique: White Carrara marble
Size: 32x85x20 cm
Year: 1998

CAREZZE
Immediacy in the expressive force of sinuous, plastic lines that encapsulate a loving gesture of slender, light bodies. An act of love toward offspring, guarding and reassuring.

Technique: Oriental pear wood lacquered ice
Measurements: 120x62x2 cm
Year: 2018

NON SMETTERO’ DI AMARTI
A kiss of a pair of lovers, vigorously imprinted, symbolizing strength and promise in a single moment.
The figures fused together symbolize the passion of a young and restless love.

NEREIDI
Glauce, Aphrodite, Thetis and Galatina, daughters of Nereus, figures from Greek mythology, “inspirers of sweet feelings and suave images”. These sea nymphs, who rescued sailors in distress, represent spontaneity and innocence in love.

Nereids is made of Bronze with an Onyx base. The work was exhibited at Art Innsbruck 2004, Arte Fiera di Bologna 2002, Gent Lineart 2001 and Arte Fiera di Bologna 2001.

Technique: Bronze with Guatemala marble base
Measurements: 28x34x10 cm
Year: 2002

SENSI
Uniting, sharing, experiencing, acquainting and savoring. Everything travels in unison through the path of passion and converges to create that crescendo of pleasure that reaches its peak.
For the artist, the work represents the path through which to unite the sensations and revealing expressions of a state of mind.
A ternary bronze with mahogany base, Sensi was exhibited during the solo exhibition in Via Bassano Porrone 4 in Milan, the Aragonese Castle in Torre Melissa and Palazzo Barracco in Crotone.

Technique: Bronze with mahogany base
Measurements: 25x13x31 cm
Year: 2005

14 FEBBRAIO
With this tribute to Valentine’s Day, Cersosimo makes a criticism of the excessive consumerism associated with the lover’s holiday, who seem to have forgotten the true meaning of love. Therefore, the artist responds by honoring the patron saint of romantic love, who, in legend helped a maiden with dowries for marriage.
Against the conventions that juxtapose material good with love, 14 Febbraio is actually dedicated to the purity of lovers, who, in the artist’s interpretation, are enveloped in an embrace in which physical and spiritual love live in one dimension.

The artwork has been exhibited at Art Innsbruck 2004, Arte Fiera di Bologna 2002, Gent Lineart 2001 and Arte Fiera di Bologna 2001

Technique: Bronze with stone base
Measurements: 28x34x10 cm
Year: 1993
